Nafplio: Wine, Ouzo, Music

Ouzo!

We were treated to a wine and ouzo tasting in Nafplio!  It was fun to learn the processes and what to taste for when drinking each beverage.  For dinner, we were also given a concert from local folk musicians.  I was really excited about this, as a music teacher, and our guide asked if I could play their instruments! That was very special!

Shopping

This area was very fun to walk through!  With our free time, we decided to just explore the many shops and gelato stops.  We were told to wait to buy many things until this location, and we were glad we waited! The goods made here were of a very high quality, and were not as expensive as other places selling less quality things at a higher price.  I was excited to get stone washed cotton shirts!  Everyone in my family enjoyed all this stop had to offer, and we all loved how walkable everything was.  Our guide knew many of the vendors, and she even introduced us to the shops that Rick Steves has relationships with!

Lasting Memory

Our hotel in Nafplio was very fun! It was built into a hillside with a view overlooking the town and coast.  The owners of the hotel helped everyone navigate their bags up and down the stairs, and they prepared a very special breakfast while we stayed their.  Some rooms of the hotel kept the original cave look, which was so cool to see!  We enjoyed the freshly squeezed orange juice from the trees on the property!
