Lagkadia, Peloponnese

Another Lunch Stop!

This lunch stop was a real treat! It was very far from the normal tourist route, and we had the entire restaurant to ourselves!  We learned about the history of the mountain village and its rich fishing history.  It was very tasty, and they had other delicious options for those who do not like seafood. This location was in a forest near a stream (where they caught our fish from!), so we were able to hike and stretch our legs after the long bus ride!

Dinner and Dancing

This stop was the must culturally enriching experience!  We had a very traditional beef meal and were treated to a presentation and lesson in Greek dancing.  In this city, as we were walking back to the hotel from our third gelato excursion of the day, my parents stopped into a local art studio.  They had been meaning to buy something special and local, but wanted to make sure they were not going to be taken advantage of as tourists.  This location was perfect for them, since it was big enough to have local studios, but small enough to not be a tourist trap!  They ended up purchasing a tile painted traditionally by a local woman who is one of the oldest artists to have been trained in the technique!

Lasting Memory

The dancing was definitely the highlight for me!  I am very shy, but the other Rick Steves travelers and the dancers were so welcoming and patient, and it ended up being really fun!  The biggest memory I have from this was that my aunts buddy ended being a great dancer and stole the show!
