Athens and the Heart of Greece in 14 Days:
Arachova and the Archaeological Site of Delphi
Arachova
The first stop we made after Athens was for lunch in a smaller village. Unlike other European countries we have been to, the restaurants in Greece seemed to get you in and out faster, if that's what you wanted. In this small lunch stop, we were able to eat great food and have plenty of time to walk around and explore! Lunch stops are a great way to see smaller villages that are between overnight locations.
Delphi
Not only was the site beautiful while tucked into the cool mountains, but this museum had very interesting stories and artifacts. I've never been into Greek mythology, so it was nice to hear the stories and how the mythology affected these sites and how people travelled. My sister, who knows a lot about mythology, appreciated getting to see the temples and relics to the gods. This site in particular had fantastic original writing tablets with music, laws, and general logs. Through the restoration process, you get to envision what life was like, but they do it in a way where the original is preserved and seen how it naturally looks.

Lasting Memory
When you walk the site of Delphi, you ascend higher into the mountain, and you can see the rest of the site beneath you. Whenever I think of Delphi I am still awestruck with the architecture and craftsmanship that went into the construction of the temples and theaters. This is also the location I began to understand how far people would walk between city states!
