Monemvasia: Views and Baking

The Town

This location was just plain cool!  It was so awesome to explore the giant rock that housed an entire city!  I had a great time with my parents at the restaurant we ate at, owned by a woman who has lived her entire life in the town.  We ate at an odd time, so we were the only ones eating, but as people walked passed and looked at our gyros and smelled it, they also stopped and ate!  There was a music festival happening, so things were crowded, but nothing compared to other larger cities.  In this city you could experience things as both a tourist and a local!

Cooking Class

I almost never cook.  When they asked for volunteers to be assistants in the cooking class, I just sat there,  but was "randomly chosen" to help after my mom pointed at me!  It ended up being very fun, and I got to do it with my aunt!  We learned how to make all kinds of delicious Greek recipes like Baklava, tzatziki sauce, beef, and more!  We also were allowed to take a tour of a local bakery, since Rick Steves and our guide knew the owner very well.

Lasting Memory

At this point in the trip, we were getting just kind of sick of Greek food (which usually happens), so we decided to try an Italian restaurant.  It was so amazing!  I had mushroom ravioli, and months later I still remember the taste!  The restaurant itself was in a row of other venues of different kinds of food, and there was also a music festival going on.  There were many visitors there for the music festival, and it was nice to walk past and experience part of the festival!
